Rights and a protected voice at work
Labor and Livelihoods protects the person behind an employment contract, including itinerant crews, subcontractors and workers in settlements dependent on one operator. Its mandate combines safe work, fair payment, recognised skills and a meaningful route to leave or challenge an employer without losing civic standing or essential utilities.

Conditions, wages and accountable contractor chains
Teams handle withheld wages, occupational exposure, working time, leave, migrant labour, skills portability and collective bargaining interfaces. An inspection records working location, the responsible operator, immediate protections and the worker's evidence channel. A contractor chain does not make the duty to protect workers disappear between organisations.
The powers we hold and the powers we refer
The Commission administers labour findings and support within its mandate; contested legal disputes follow Justice & Legal Cooperation Commission and Union Court of Justice. Clinical evidence remains with authorised healthcare custodians. A worker can request an advocate or confidential receiving channel, and a public safety referral must state who is responsible for protecting against retaliation.
A case in practice
An asteroid crew reports unsafe work and withheld pay. The local office preserves testimony and immediate welfare needs independently of management. Wage recovery and technical inspection proceed as separate findings; no private debt or payroll dispute can suspend the crew's air, water or civic exit rights.
