Reserve an observatory instrument

A shared-facility allocation and calibration record.

SCIcommissionUnion-wide competence

What this procedure decides

Allocate an observatory instrument transparently against scientific and technical scope.

The access team checks scheduling conflicts, competence, protected operating conditions and public evidence custody.

Acting in the right capacity

Research and civic organisations

Laboratories, universities, observatories, associations, cultural organisations and public-interest networks. Name the accountable organisation, research or civic purpose, relevant ethics or protection review and the custodian who can authorise source access.

Public administrations

Local councils, regional offices, Union bodies and authorised public-service delegates. Name the originating power, receiving scope, authorised delegate, reserved decisions and the event at which the other office accepts a duty.

Prepare assessable evidence

  1. Observation proposal

Identify the source custodian, version and purpose of observation proposal. Research method, instrument compatibility and the data plan identify the request. Remote applicants can provide an assessable record without attending a live inner-system panel.

  2. Instrument needs

For instrument needs, name the receiving scope and any outstanding acceptance. Explain a missing or disputed element instead of silently replacing it with an unrelated record.

  3. Data release plan

For data release plan, provide the independently assessable finding or agreed alternative. State its conditions, expiry or material-change trigger; a favourable summary is not a substitute for the source.

Alternative evidence and a disputed source

Identify the missing element, its custodian and the alternative you can provide. Preserve conflicting versions and explain the difference. The receiving office states what it can establish and which question remains open.

Read the result before accepting its scope

An allocation, staged access, alternative instrument offer or reasoned rejection.

Retain the instrument version, raw-data custody and disclosure commitments. A schedule change does not erase scientific independence.

Who can use this service

A research team, observatory partner or eligible public scientific organisation seeking a defined instrument allocation under published technical and scientific criteria.

The applicable safeguard

Null results and uncertainty belong in the public scientific record

Prepare a request

The online workflow supports residents and authorized representatives, operators, researchers and public delegates. A saved receipt stays on this browser. The PDF packet provides a fillable offline record.

Timing, costs and review

The local register issues a receipt when the request is recorded. Published service clocks use receipt and verified-completeness events; numeric deadlines remain charter decisions in this fictional edition.

Any fee, exemption or numeric deadline must be published by the competent institution. This edition does not invent a currency or fee schedule.
